Selena Gomez opens up about her hopes of becoming a mother


Selena Gomez has opened up about her future plans for motherhood, revealing that she hopes to have children someday despite previously sharing that she cannot carry a baby herself.


Speaking about her mental health nonprofit, Rare Impact Fund, at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City, Selena reflected on the work she has accomplished and her hopes for the future.



The singer and actress said she has a 13-year-old sister who means a lot to her and added that she will “eventually” have children of her own. She also spoke about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and other personal struggles.


Selena's comments come shortly after her husband, Benny Blanco, spoke openly about his desire to start a family. During an appearance on the Today show, Benny jokingly said he was making a strong effort to begin their family journey.


He has also previously shared that he is excited about becoming a father and hopes to be the best parent and partner he can be.


Selena previously revealed in 2024 that her health conditions meant carrying a baby could put both her life and the baby's life at risk. She said at the time that she had to grieve the fact that motherhood might not happen in the way she had originally imagined.



However, Selena explained that adoption and surrogacy are possibilities for her and that she has made peace with taking a different path to motherhood.


For Selena, becoming a mother may look different from what she once imagined — but she remains hopeful and excited about what the future could bring.
